A Little About Literacy and Math Ideas

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For more than two decades, I have been a passionate educator and a presenter at prestigious conferences such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Illinois Association of Gifted Children (IAGC). I have taught and mentored students of various ages and abilities, from elementary school to college level. As an instructional coach, I have the opportunity to work with students in kindergarten through eighth grade and help them develop their mathematical skills and confidence.

My creative partner is an expert in high school and college level mathematics, with a strong command of topics ranging from Algebra I to Calculus 3 as well as Differential Equations. He has a wealth of experience in teaching and tutoring students in these subjects.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is based on three key principles: hands-on, multidisciplinary, and teaching at multiple critical thinking levels. I believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process, using concrete materials and manipulatives to explore mathematical concepts and solve problems. I also strive to connect mathematics to other disciplines, such as science, art, and literature, to show students the relevance and beauty of mathematics in the real world. Furthermore, I challenge my students to think critically and creatively about mathematics, by posing open-ended questions, encouraging multiple strategies and solutions, and fostering a growth mindset.
